There is an USB input hole on one side, the an out put for the regular plugin on the other side.

adapt means to make (something) suitable for a new use or purpose; modify.
means to become adjusted to new conditions.
means to alter (a text) to make it suitable for filming, broadcasting, or the stage.
We are using adapter everyday for the same purpose, charging our phone. The invention of the phone is later then the old style plugin, so in this condition, an adapter is being used to adjust to an old condition rather then new one. The adapter is also not a beautiful piece to make an art, but a trivial little thing intends to even the little chaos in our life.
The adapter however is something let people adapt to the new new world. We live in a fast changing world. Even the technology makes our surrounding keep changing, we are still able to do the regular routine /and work without being interrupted, because of the adapter.
